Types of Therapy

Psychotherapy (Talk Therapy)

Engage in a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we’ll work to uncover the patterns that may be holding you back and develop strategies for positive change.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals heal from trauma and distressing life experiences.

    How it works:

Your therapist guides you through a series of dual-attention stimulation such as eye movements, hand taps, or auditory tones while focusing on the memory. The goal is to help you reprocess the memory, reduce its emotional intensity, and integrate it into your overall experience in a healthier way.

    Used for:

    • PTSD

    • Anxiety

    • Depression

    • Addiction

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented form of talk therapy that helps identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns. It's a collaborative effort between you and a therapist to modify behavior and thinking patterns to improve mood and quality of life. CBT is problem-oriented and focuses on finding solutions for current issues, rather than dwelling on the past.

    How it works:

    Your therapist will help you:

    • Identify specific problems or issues in your daily life

    • Become aware of unproductive thought patterns and how they can impact your life

    • Identify negative thinking and reshape it in a way that changes how you feel

    • Learn new behaviors and put them into practice

After learning more about the issue you want help with, your therapist will decide on the best CBT strategies to use. These can include cognitive restructuring or reframing, guided discovery, exposure therapy, journaling, activity scheduling and behavior activation, behavioral experiments, relaxation  and stress reduction techniques, and role playing.

    Used for:

    • Anxiety

    • Depression

    • PTSD

    • OCD

    • Eating disorders

    • Substance abuse

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive treatment that blends standard cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices, focusing on finding a balance between acceptance and change. The central idea is that you can accept yourself and your current situation while simultaneously working toward positive changes in your life.

    How it works:

DBT aims to help develop skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Your therapist might recommend individual therapy, group skills training, phone coaching, and/or a therapist consultation team.

    Used for:

    • Those who experience intense emotions

    • Depression

    • Anxiety

    • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

    • Eating disorders, such as bulimia and binge eating disorder

    • Substance use disorder
